I work with clients of all ages, with a specific focus on treating adolescents, teens and young adults. Through the context of a secure therapeutic relationship, I incorporate innovative approaches and outside-the-box thinking to help my clients navigate all aspects of their lives.
The best time to consult with me is when you have noticed changes in your teen’s behavior — impacting their ability to connect with others and cope with their challenges. As an experienced teen therapist, I can help asses the challenges your adolescent may be experiencing and offer you effective recommendations for solving the problem.
Together, we want to try and understand what is really underlying your teen’s struggle. There are many dynamics going on at any time during this age. Is educational testing indicated? Is social skills coaching a piece of the puzzle? Would parenting support help turn the situation around? Is referral to a medical doctor or other specialist indicated? It is vital that parents make an effort to understand their adolescent’s behavior, rather than merely reacting to it.

Teen Counseling & Therapy
The teen years are a time of the lowest levels of serotonin in the human brain during life, leaving adolescents more susceptible to feeling stressed and overwhelmed.
It is immensely important for teenagers to have a neutral person they can turn to for support.
I help teens approach life’s challenges—both inherent in adolescence and specific to their circumstances—with confidence and success. Your teen could be feeling confused about their identity and uncertain about their future. Many turn to drugs or alcohol to “numb” because feeling scared or depressed. Eating disorders and other health issues may develop as a way to mange these difficult feelings they are unable to verbalize. And, many teens begin hanging with the wrong crowd; jeopardizing safety and making poor choices which can result in legal issues down the road.

Insurance:
I understand that psychotherapy can get expensive. If you are in need of a sliding scale in order to pursue treatment, please let me know. We can work together to come up with something that works, so don’t hesitate to ask.
I am an out-of-network provider, thus have no direct billing with any insurance company. This said, many insurance companies reimburse for out-of-network services. I’m happy to provide an invoice for reimbursement from your insurance company if this is something they offer.

Confidentiality:
Developing a trusting relationship between therapist and client is crucial. Therefore, all aspects of the psychotherapy session, including artwork, personal information, and treatment details are kept confidential. Information pertaining to the client can only be provided to others when the client provides a written consent. The only exceptions to this policy are when there are serious safety concerns. If there is suspected child or elder abuse or neglect, or when an individual threatens to harm self or others, the law states that the therapist must break confidentiality in order to ensure the safety of all involved.
